Saturday April 27
2:00 pm to 3:30 pm

Get Energy Smart … Saving Energy and Money in your Home

There is a growing recognition by Faith Groups, the second largest holder of real estate in Canada, of the importance of greening their real estate portfolios.

If you are a faith group member or a provider of green products and/or services, then you should attend the April 27, 2013 Workshop: “Greening the Portfolio of Canada’s Second Largest Real Estate Holder: Connecting Products and Services with this Market”.

The workshop is a unique opportunity to learn what leading Faith Groups are doing with / in their facilities, to learn about the scale of the challenge and the opportunity and to learn about leading edge practices from organizations and businesses assisting Faith Groups green their facilities, operations and practices.

Please see below (at bottom of this page) for detailed agenda.

Space is limited, so come early to avoid disappointment.  This workshop begins immediately following the Living Green Expo Opening Ceremonies.

The Living Green Expo is pleased to offer a practical workshop that will help you reduce your energy consumption, utility bills and do your part to reduce your environmental footprint.

Scott McKenzie will help you figure out some practical ways to reduce your energy use.

Find out about about easy energy conservation options for people interested in becoming greener. Learn how lowering your Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions can actually save you money with little to no financial investment. The focus will be on four key areas: Home, Transportation, Food and Consumption/Waste.

This workshop is offered in partnership with Tucker House.

scott-McKenzie

Scott McKenzie and his family have spent the last few years “greening” their Ottawa home and adjusting their lifestyle to reduce their total energy consumption by over 50 percent … a truly amazing accomplishment.  Scott is Director of Operations at Energate, a leading Ottawa-based provider of home energy management solutions.  He is a computer engineer and passionate environmentalist with over 25 years experience in the high technology industry.

Healthy Eating Options

By choosing to use organic products, you can drastically reduce the amount of chemicals that enter your body. Most skin care products on the market today have a combination of synthetic ingredients that contain a variety of harmful chemicals and synthetic preservatives.

To ensure you are putting only the best and most pure ingredients onto and into your body, you should take the time to read the ingredients label on the products you currently use. If you are not familiar with the ingredients, then chances are they should not be applied to your skin. Truly natural products are not only safer, but they also typically contain an array of beneficial nutrients that effectively heal damaged cells and capillaries, thus reducing the signs of aging.

David-Brooke

David Brooke is an international model (Ford Models) who has worked for many high profile designers including Giorgio Armani, Guess by Marciano, Calvin Klein, and Hugo Boss.
Due to the various climate changes and endless amounts of products applied to his skin on any given day, David struggled for many years to find the cleanest product line that could help him maintain the healthy, even skin complexion demanded by the fast paced fashion industry.  He developed a passion for organics, dedication to chemical free living, and valuable industry insight into organic products.

The Public Health Agency of Canada defines health living as “the practice of health-enhancing behaviours, or put simply, living in healthy ways.”  One way that many Canadians are trying to live healthier is through changing their eating habits.

There are certainly lots of alternatives available.  The Living Green Expo has assembled a “Power Panel” of three well-known local experts who will share their knowledge of three popular approaches to “healthy eating”.

This will not be a debate but will provide a one-stop opportunity for you to learn the advantages of three popular healthy eating choices: eating a VEGAN diet, going GLUTEN-FREE.  There will be lots of time for questions from the audience.  Don’t miss what is bound to be an informative and perhaps diet-changing workshop.
